It has been well established that stress causes or contributes to unhealthy weight gain and dangerous abdominal (belly) fat.  Additionally, it is thought to interfere in diet and weight loss efforts.

But chronic stress is also linked to various other physical, mental and emotional health disorders and illnesses.  In fact, as this infographic entitled "Let's Talk About Stress" points out, it is estimated that 75-90% of all doctor visits are due to stress-related complaints.

In view of our knowledge of the hugely negative impact of stress on our bodies and lives, it is important to understand how it affects our bodies and to learn how to manage it.

This infographic illustrates the effect on the body of both acute and chronic stress.  It also offers some suggestions on managing stress, including:
