Currently, many fitness experts believe that a flat belly is made 75% in the kitchen (diet choices) and 25% in the gym (exercise).
Also, it has been shown that spot exercises are not effective in eliminating fat in a particular area of the body. So, doing a lot of crunches or other abdomen muscle conditioning exercises will not, by itself, get rid of the belly fat. It is still necessary to create a calorie deficit by eating a healthy, fat reducing diet.
That said, exercises targeting the abs do play an important role in getting to your weight and stomach weight loss goals.
This infographic entitled "Shrink Your Belly in 14 Days" illustrates five exercises that target the abdominal region using a stability ball.
According to Prevention.com: when researchers at California State University, Sacramento, hooked up
electrodes to the midsections of 18 people, they found that ball moves
recruited twice the number of muscle fibers as traditional crunches or
yoga/Pilates-inspired workouts. Scientists credit the ball's instability
with doubling the toning power of these moves.
