|Obesity and Cancer - What You Need To Know|
Updated Infographic from the AICR
Numerous research and studies confirm that overweight and obesity increase the risk for at least eight types of cancers including:
The AICR estimates that excess body fat (including belly fat) is a cause of approximately 120,400 cases of cancer in the U.S. each year. Yet 7 in 10 Americans are currently overweight or obese and less than half of all Americans are even aware of the obesity-cancer link!
Like so many leading experts who advise us to lower our risk for cancer by adopting healthier lifestyle changes, the AICR also advises to protect ourselves by:
moving more, i.e., adopting a regular exercise routine and otherwise becoming more physically active
eating smart, i.e., eating a mostly plant-based, whole food diet with 2/3 or more of the diet being vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans.
